PhantomTrace Privacy Policy

PhantomTrace ("the app") is an off-road racing GPS waypoint creator. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

• Google Account info (email, name, profile picture) — collected only when you sign in with Google. Used to identify your account and tie it to your tracks/waypoints.
• Location data (GPS coordinates, speed, heading) — collected while you use the app to record tracks, drop waypoints, and share your position with teammates. Background location is used only when track recording is explicitly enabled.
• Camera & photo library access — only used when you choose to attach a photo to a waypoint. Photos stay on your device unless you tap "share".
• Microphone access — only used when you record a voice message for your team. Recordings are encrypted in transit and stored only as long as your team needs them.
• Device info (OS version, device model, app version) — used for crash reporting and analytics.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide the core features of the app (mapping, tracking, team coordination).
• To enable real-time location sharing within your selected team only.
• To improve app stability via anonymous crash reports and usage analytics.
• We do NOT sell your data. We do NOT share your location with advertisers.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers protected by industry-standard encryption (HTTPS in transit, encrypted at rest). Only you and the teammates you explicitly share with can see your tracks and waypoints.

4. Your Rights

• You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing phantom.racedev@gmail.com from the address linked to your Phantom Trace account. See our Account Deletion page for full details.
• You can export your tracks and waypoints as GPX or KML files at any time.
• You can disable location sharing with your team without leaving the team.
• Residents of California (CCPA) and the EU (GDPR) have additional rights, including the right to request a copy of your data. Email us to request this.

5. Third-Party Services

• Google Maps — for displaying satellite imagery. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
• Google Sign-In — for authentication only.
• PostHog — anonymous product analytics.
• Discord webhooks — only used when you submit a bug report from the in-app form.

6. Children's Privacy

The app is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll notify you in-app and refresh the "Last updated" date above.
